Center Pointe provides activities on an average, for approximately 300 to 350 individuals each month. With trained staff on hand all the time we are able to meet many different needs and serve people with many types of disabilities. Ninety percent of the people involved in the programs live in adult family homes or are cared for by family members. Our services offer caretakers respite while knowing their loved one is enjoying a safe and yet stimulating environment for growth.
When heading to Center Pointe for the day, members can be heard telling others "I'm going to school today" or "I'm going to work today". The Center provides a community for them.
The Center offers 70 hours each week of class programs for 52 weeks of the year. All activities are therapeutic in nature, and there are some attending for personal rather than medical reasons.
Through learning projects, each person is able to achieve personal goals according to his/her own abilities. Every learning project and activity is designed to enhance motor skills and cognitive capacities. Barriers are removed or reduced to enhance the learning process.
There are 23 classes offered throughout the week and a monthly evening dance. As much as possible, participants are taken out of the Center in groups of three or four for field trips based on an individual goal.
Every year at least 3-10 people are placed in supported employment after spending time in classes to assist employment preparation.
